- When the registration code is displayed, click Next to continue.
When prompted to check for new product and definition updates, click Yes if you are connected to the network.
Note: If do not check for new definitions now, you will be prompted to do so the first time you run a sweep.
Read and accept the license agreement, and then click Next to continue.

Select the type of installation you want to perform and and then click Next to continue.

Click Install to begin the installation.

If you are upgrading from Spy Sweeper version 3.x, you may see a message asking whether you want to convert the quarantined files to the new format. Click Yes to retain the quarantine information from previous sweeps.
When the conversion of quarantined files is complete, click Next to continue.
Click Finish to complete the installation. If you are upgrading from a previous version you will be prompted to restart your computer.
Running Sweeps
Notes: Before running a sweep, close any other appli***ions that are running on your computer to ensure proper removal of spyware.
After you run a sweep for the first time, Spy Sweeper displays an estimate of how long subsequent sweeps will take. One way that is likely improve the sweep speed is to delete your temporary Internet files. (Internet Explorer [IE] users can delete temporary Internet files by going to the IE Tools menu and clicking Internet Options. In the Temporary Internet Files section of the window, click the Delete Files button.)
Start Spy Sweeper if it is not already running.
(Right click the Spy Sweeper icon (  ) in the bottom right corner of the screen and click Restore or click the Start menu and navigate to Programs > Webroot > Spy Sweeper > Spy Sweeper.)
If you did not check for updated definitions during installation, you will be prompted to check for updated spyware definitions now. Click Yes.
Click the Options button on the left side of the window and make sure that the Program Options tab is selected. IT Services recommends the following settings: Automatic Check for Updates: checked (you must be connected to the Internet for this to work)
Automatically Delete Items in Quarantine More Than _ Days Old: checked
Load at Windows Startup: checked
- In the Options window, click the Sweep Options tab. Choose the following settings:
Where to Sweep: click Sweep All Folders on Selected Drives and then select the drives you wish to sweep.
What to Sweep: check all of the boxes except Sweep Contents of Compressed Files, which is optional. Enabling this feature may cause your sweep to take significantly longer.
- Click the Sweep button on the left side of the ******** Click the Start button to start the sweep.
- After Spy Sweeper has finished a sweep of your computer, click Next to continue.
- Inspect the results and uncheck the box next to any spyware that you do not wish to disable. Click Next to put the selected software to the Quarantine folder.
Note: Software is automatically deleted from the Quarantine folder after a specified number of days, provided that the Delete Items in Quarantine program option is selected.
- Click Finish.
- Close the Spy Sweeper ********
- Click OK to keep Spy Sweeper running in the background.
Scheduling Sweeps to Run Automatically
Note: IT Services recommends sweeping your hard drive(s) once a week. You need to have Spy Sweeper running and your computer turned on in order for Spy Sweeper to run a scheduled sweep. Open Spy Sweeper and click the Options button.
In the Options window, click the Schedule tab. Then, click the Add Scheduled Sweep button to start the Schedule Wizard.

Click All Folders on Selected Drives and then click Next to continue.
Select the item you want to sweep and then click Next to continue.
Check all of the boxes except Sweep Contents of Compressed Files, which is optional. Enabling this feature may cause your sweep to take significantly longer. Then, click Next to continue.
Click how often you want the scheduled sweep to run. (IT Services recommends sweeping your hard drives once a week.) Then, click Next to continue.
Select a sweep time and day of the week that is convenient for you, when you will not be using your computer but it is turned on. Then, click Finish to exit the Schedule Wizard.
The scheduled sweep is now displayed in the Schedule Options ********
Close the Spy Sweeper ********
